Soon you’ll be able to try L’Oréal’s products using augmented reality from the comfort of your own home.
If you’re like me and love shopping online, especially for cosmetics, but are reluctant to go for the risky purchase because you can’t try them on, then this is the latest technology for you!
L’Oréal is exploring new ways of boosting their online sales of makeup, and they have the perfect solution. L’Oréal and Facebook have teamed up to make every girl’s dreams come true, by using augmented reality to allow customers to see how they look with different makeup products.
Virtual reality is becoming more and more popular within the beauty and fashion industry…. Facebook have already worked with brands such as Michael Kors and Sephora this year, testing augmented reality for advertising.
L’Oréal are starting with one of their best-known brands, NYX Professional Make-up as “NYX is a very social brand, a pro brand and a retail brand” says Lubomira Rochet, L’Oréal’s Chief Digital Officer. The ads allow the consumer to try on the make-up products and purchase them with one click, without leaving the Facebook app.
Here’s a video demonstrating the augmented reality experience in Facebook advertising.
Live streaming sessions with beauty assistants will also be something L’Oréal are hoping to launch very soon. This will allow customers to interact with professionals and be advised on what products from L’Oréal’s best-known brands, such as; Maybelline, L’Oréal Paris, NYX Professional Makeup and Urban Decay, they suit best. From this, the customer can then purchase the products online. But it doesn’t stop there! When the products arrive, you can participate in a second live stream to be shown, by a beauty assistant, how to use and apply the products.
Lubomira Rochet said in an interview, “We are at that magical moment when technologies have matured enough and consumer appetite for using them is growing everywhere. We are very excited about that new step in our long-term partnership with Facebook.”<-- Return to Blog
